Land Rover Series 3 Searle Carawagon

This Series 3 Camper was ordered new on 13th March 1972 from Carawagon at a total cost of £2507.35. We have a very interesting and large documentation pack which includes all the communications, letters, quotes and original bill of sale for this vehicle…. it outlines all the extras included and what was to be paid for….. We know from this that the vehicle was an “ULTIMATE” edition, so ordered as the buyer felt that the interior comfort superceded that of the side-lift campers. The opening of the roof affords full standing height throughout the vehicle.

Included in the pack are also a large number of previous MOTs and receipts for servicing which will make illuminating reading for the new owner.

The “ULTIMATE” Carawagon afforded space for four adults, two in bunks and two on converted seating below. A two way Gas & Electric Fridge was housed in the corner, with hard wired piping for both services (very smart for the day). There is also a cooker mounted to the back door, and all these are connected to twin gas bottles under the drivers seat. There are cabinets and a tap and various different arrangements for the seating whether it be for sleeping, dining or relaxing. The roof pops up very simply and is photographed in both positions, showing the side windows, etc etc. This roof was a great solution to affording fantastic headspace in such a compact vehicle.
