A 1959 Series 2 that has just been completed after a full nut and bolt restoration….one of the best examples currently on the market…
Registered on 21st Dec 1959 and has 4 former keepers which clocked up the 95600 miles. Since then has sat for some time until I came along and brought her back to life.
This restoration by an enthusiast who has restored many series 2 & 3 Land Rovers over the last 15 years is one of the best out there. Attention to detail and keeping the vehicle as original spec as possible.
Work carried out….
A new Richards Replica Chassis has been used which resembles the weld pattern that Land Rover used all those years ago. Painted in correct satin black finish to resemble as new.
The correct age (deep thermostat) engine has been professionally restored with hardened valve seats for unleaded and all bearings/ seals chains new. The engine is by far the sweetest I have ever had and runs beautifully and quiet with the Original Solex carb.
Gearbox has been restored and is as quiet and smooth as they come.
All running gear / axles/ brakes etc all new
New springs and shocks
New exhaust.
Bulkhead has been restored professionally and has the correct ribbed footwells. Box sections waxed with Dinitrol.
Total new AutoSparks electric system with new loom, voltage regulator all to original spec with new Lucas Dynamo
Twin Lucas wipers
Original early Rotary Vent flap controls.
Indicators fitted. Original style flat glass side and indicator lights.
New front seats with 3 point seatbelts along with new rear bench seats.
New Avon Ranger tyres
The whole body was taken back to bare metal, new panels from Paintman fitted and epoxy primed with 3 coats of 2 pack Pastel Green paint to a lovely gloss finish.
All panels painted before being fitted up with subframes eg bonnet so the dome rivets are correct aluminium colour not bodged over in paint !
New Under Covers Canvas Hood in sand colour with side windows
All galvanised cappings, grille and hood sticks all re-plated as new.
All nuts and bolts / fixings have either been re-plated or replaced with Stainless steel as necessary.
